Abdalla Magdy Darwish is a Senior Well Integrity Engineer with more than 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, specializing in well integrity, petroleum engineering, production optimization, and lifecycle well management.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum and Gas Sciences followed by a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering earned in 2017.
He began his professional career in 2012 as a Teaching Assistant at Port Said University before joining EGPC/BP as an offshore Petroleum Engineer in the Gulf of Suez, Egypt. During his offshore career, he progressed to a team leadership role, contributing to strategies for optimizing the production of more than 500 offshore wells in heterogeneous reservoirs. His experience covered engineering design, production optimization, troubleshooting, and operational decision-making.
He also served as a backup Offshore Installation Manager for a major offshore complex, gaining experience in production processes, pipelines, start-ups, shutdowns, and surface operations. His leadership potential and professional contributions were recognized through his selection for a middle-management development program sponsored by the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum.
Abdalla later joined the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) as a Senior Well Integrity Engineer. His work covers the lifecycle management of more than 2,400 wells, from design and construction through operation, integrity management, and abandonment. His responsibilities include well integrity engineering, barrier management, risk assessment, compliance with local and international standards, and preventing and managing surface and subsurface hydrocarbon leaks.
His professional interests include well integrity, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, engineering decision-making, and advanced technologies for well lifecycle management. He has contributed to technical publications and conference presentations across Egypt, the UAE, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Austria, and Malaysia.
