Future AI Houston 2025 – Fireside Chat

In this fireside chat, Siemens Energy shared how AI and generative technologies are enabling autonomous operations by connecting systems, supporting engineers, and accelerating digital adoption through collaboration.

This fireside chat offered a grounded view of how AI is already shaping autonomous operations across the energy value chain. Drawing on Siemens Energy’s deep engineering heritage, Thomas Schoch outlined how AI has evolved from isolated analytics into a unifying layer that connects assets, systems, and teams in real time.

The conversation highlighted Siemens Energy’s long standing use of AI in areas such as anomaly detection, performance optimisation, and condition monitoring across turbines, transformers, transmission systems, and wind assets. What has changed, Schoch explained, is the ability to bring these capabilities together through orchestration platforms that provide context, coordination, and scalability, both for Siemens Energy and its customers.

Generative AI was discussed as an important enabler rather than a standalone solution. From knowledge services that support operators during incidents, to knowledge graphs that link multiple systems without duplicating data, GenAI was positioned as a way to break down traditional operational silos and support more autonomous decision making.

The chat also addressed workforce impact and adoption. Schoch emphasised that AI succeeds when combined with deterministic methods, clear governance, and a strong human in the loop approach. Rather than replacing expertise, AI reduces manual effort, accelerates engineering tasks, and helps experienced teams focus on higher value decisions. The session concluded with a clear message that collaboration and co creation with customers are essential to driving digital adoption at pace and building trust in autonomous operations.
