Joe McDonald of Hazid Technologies used the theme “Your systems are fine your data is fine you are fine” to challenge the idea that every organisation needs a complete rebuild before it can benefit from artificial intelligence. Drawing on industry figures that show high failure rates for AI initiatives, he described the big data muddle that arises when teams chase perfect training datasets while everyday decisions still rely on scattered, hard to use engineering information.
Rather than ripping out existing tools, McDonald argued for a practical knowledge systems approach that treats AI as an amplifier of what is already in place. He showed how modern AI can work with diagrams, models and legacy documents, turning them into connected, searchable assets that engineers can trust. The Integrity platform, highlighted in the presentation, reads design documents much like an experienced engineer, uncovering hidden relationships and surfacing critical items that manual review often misses.
